Mount Grace Priory: (North Yorkshire) ~ Mount Grace Priory is the best preserved Carthusian monastery in Britain. Founded in 1398, it is beautifully situated among attractive woodlands. The monks lived as virtual hermits in their own cells, only congregating for services in the monastery's small church.
Today, you can see what life would have been like for them during the 15th century by viewing the reconstructed cell and wandering around the remains of the Great Cloister, outer court, as well as the extensive and peaceful gardens which is a perfect spot to nrelax and enjoy the beautiful surrounding countryside.
